Ilene Richard worked as a jewelry designer for fifteen years. She was featured in trade magazines for her pieces and was featured in many galleries across the country. She put her jewelry business on hold in order to break into the children’s book market, something she had always dreamed of doing.
Richard attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where she received a BFA in graphic design and illustration. She also attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts , Boston at Tufts University and the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts, to continue her education in illustration. She is a member of the Rockport Art Association and a board member of the Massachusetts chapter of the National Association of Women Artists. Richard also paints large mixed media and acrylic paintings on canvas and paper. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums from California to Florida and all through New England.
Richard lives in Andover, Massachusetts, with her husband Larry, who is a retired veterinarian, and their two dogs.
