Illustrator Roberta Baird is an artist who has set out to prove she can do it all. She specializes in children’s book illustrations, murals, and set design—but her artwork can also be found in educational textbooks, picture books, and magazines. Besides working as a freelance illustrator, this inspirational woman owns a children’s theater and acts as its set designer. Her strengths go beyond creating art: she is also a teacher at a Montessori elementary school.
A member of the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators, Baird has been recognized for her talents by taking the grand prize in the illustrator showcase in 2011 and 2014. She also placed first in the Scholastic Books Global Literacy Campaign Poster Contest. Some of her previous titles have been finalists for the Next Generation Indie Book Awards, and The Legend of Ranger: The Reindeer Who Couldn’t Fly has won a Mom’s Choice Award for excellence.
In addition to illustrating children’s books, Baird displays her personal art on her website. Many of these pieces are themed with upcoming holidays or feature creatures she has created. Baird resides in Houston, Texas, with her husband, four children, and lots of dogs, cats, birds, and fish. |
