Though Billie Ann Lopez was born in Kansas, she loved Vienna, Austria, and devoted her life to Austrian and German culture. Having resided in Vienna for many years, friends say that she considered this Austrian city her home. She worked as a freelance writer for most of her life.
During her career, she wrote more than forty articles about Vienna, ranging from old Viennese humor to Austrian birdwatching. Some of the topics about which Lopez wrote include Austrian automobiles, holidays, customs, and Mark Twain’s visit to Vienna.
