Glenn Dedmondt, a lifelong resident of the Carolinas, has spent much of his
life in the United States Marine Corps. He has served in, among others, Viet
Nam; Okinawa; Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; and Parris Island. He received his bachelor
of science degree in elementary education from Southern Missionary College in
Collegedale, Tennessee.
He is a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and shares his passion for
history as a teacher of South Carolina history. He also teaches science at the
elementary level. Dedmondt has given several speeches to the Sons of Confederate
Veterans organization, discussing such topics as the Carolinas' coastal forts,
songs of the South, and South Carolina artillery in the War Between the States.
He has been published in the Confederate Veteran magazine and is the
author of Southern Bronze, the history of South Carolina's Garden
Battery. The Flags of Civil War North Carolina, The
Flags of Civil War South Carolina, and The Flags of
Civil War Alabama are all available from Pelican.
Mr. Dedmondt is currently living in Johnston, South Carolina, with his wife,
Donna. He has two grown sons and is interested in acoustic guitar, playing
classical, folk, and classic country music.
