In these intriguing vignettes, author Joe Cothen retells the story of Christmas, recreating the wondrous events surrounding it as seen by those who might have been in Bethlehem on that Divine occasion. He offers knowledgeable and non-sectarian insight into the activities, thoughts, and emotions of participants, observers, and bystanders in this fulfillment of ancient Biblical prophesy.
There is the haughty Caesar, the despised Roman centurion, and the weary businessman. Among others, there also are the priest, the street urchin, and the leper. All unknowingly go about their daily routines. How could they have know what was to take place? And had they known, would they have acted differently? From this series of profiles emerges a timeless message, one that brings joy and hope to man today, just as it did in Bethlehem twenty centuries ago.
