A full-time racing journalist, Bill Mooney has written about horses his entire life. He spent several years serving as an associate editor for both the Thoroughbred Times and the now-defunct Thoroughbred Record. Distinguished for his magazine writing, he was also a staff writer for Blood-Horse magazine, and his articles have been featured in the New York Times. An expert on the sport, he authored a comprehensive encyclopedia about horse racing. He has received two Eclipse Awards and numerous honors for his writing.
Mooney received degrees from North Texas State University (now University of North Texas) and Michigan State University before returning home to thoroughbred racing country. He lives in Lexington, Kentucky.
