When Chet Hilburn was asked why he chose to write about Tiger Stadium, he responded, “Every football fan in America has heard about the mystique of LSU’s Tiger Stadium, but no one has ever written a book on it until now.” His passion was born when he was sixteen years old. His older brother, then a LSU student, brought him to a number of games in the stadium, and he has been fascinated ever since.
Hilburn graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a BA in history. He has more than forty years of experience as a reporter, editor, and author. His work history includes time as a police reporter for the Shreveport(LA) Journal, a reporter and design editor for the Alexandria(LA) Town Talk, a managing editor of the Camden (AK) News, and a layout editor, writer, and later national and world news editor for the Houston (TX) Chronicle. He also received a Bronze Star for his work as a journalist and combat photographer-reporter with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam.
Now retired, Hilburn focuses on writing. He lives in Houston, Texas.
