for underprivileged high school students. She has been a finalist in the Long

Since moving to New Orleans
with her husband, she has become an avid caretaker and promoter of the city.
Using her gift for design, she has assisted in the restoration of many houses
in New Orleans, and her work has been featured in the New Orleans
Times-Picayune. She also writes design- and architecture-oriented posts for
the award-winning tourist blog GoNola.com. Applying her passion for
writing to her love of New Orleans, she co-created the League of Spirited
Tipplers, a blog providing information on cocktail recipes and the best
watering holes in the French Quarter.
In addition to earning a
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certificate from Transworld
Schools, Alsup also received her BA in French literature from the University of
California at Santa Cruz and her MFA in creative writing from Emerson College.
She lives with her husband in a renovated house in New Orleans.
