Tom Fitzmorris is a food critic and the host of the Food Show, a WWL radio program about New Orleans’ cuisine. He is also the publisher of the New Orleans MENU, an online newsletter that includes reviews of local restaurants and recipes. Fitzmorris’ food-writing career began with a weekly restaurant-review column in 1972, while he was still in college. Since 1981, this same column has been published in New Orleans CityBusiness.
In addition to publishing numerous restaurant guidebooks and cookbooks, Fitzmorris is the former editor of Figaro and New Orleans Magazine. He achieved the distinction of Certified Culinary Professional from the International Association of Culinary Professionals, a national association of food writers and cooking instructors.
Although Fitzmorris specializes in food-related articles, he has also contributed articles to national publications on such subjects as real estate, railroading, and astronomy. He frequently serves as a chef to bidders at charity auctions. Fitzmorris enjoys cooking and spending time with his family in their country home, just north of New Orleans.
