Ed Mickolus was a member of the Central Intelligence Agency for thirty-three years, working as an analyst, covert actions officer, and public affairs officer with a focus on political terrorism. He is the president and founder of Vinyard Software, an international programming company offering terrorist detection and information services. Mickolus is a senior instructor on intelligence matters for the Science Applications International Corporation, teaching intelligence issues to federal agencies.
During his time at the CIA, Mickolus received seven Exceptional Performance Awards and three Meritorious Unit Citations. He has been recognized in Who’s Who in America and in Men of Achievement. He remains involved in the CIA through membership in the Central Intelligence Retirees Association and the Association of Former Intelligence Officers.
Mickolus is a prolific writer who has written sixteen books that deal with politics and intelligence. When he is not teaching or writing, Mickolus enjoys performing stand-up comedy and has been recognized for his political wit by the Washington Post, frequently ranking in their comedy Style Invitational. Mickolus received his AB in government from Georgetown University, and his MA, M. Phil., and PhD, all in political science, from Yale University. He lives in Northern Virginia.
