Men have learned to be adept at hiding strong emotions or covering them with anger. Having little training on how to express their feelings or deal with them effectively, men are often unable to release the pressure that builds up over time. Physical results of stress can manifest themselves in unexplained aches and pains, chronic fatigue and insomnia, and susceptibility to disease.
Armed with a series of techniques and strategies for not only dealing with stress, but preventing it, an experienced social psychologist prepares men for life in an uncertain world. Through case studies and anecdotes, the author demonstrates how to manage loneliness, depression, anger, guilt, and jealousy. Common problems and “stress traps” are identified along with an explanation of how they can be better dealt with.
