A part of the
Bluebonnet Series, the audiobook stories of the
Bluebonnet CD are just three of this well-traveled armadillo’s adventures in Texas. Featuring colorful characters and exciting excursions, these tales include a great deal of Texas history, trivia, and fun.
In the very first adventure, Bluebonnet of the Hill Country, Bluebonnet’s family is introduced, and the origins of her bonnet are revealed. On her own, Bluebonnet is shy and skeptical of new acquaintances, but she soon learns to face her fears. Using lessons imparted by her parents, she saves several campers at a summer camp and earns acceptance and respect in the process.
Bluebonnet sets out to explore the city of San Antonio in Bluebonnet at the Alamo. Upon arriving at the Alamo, she befriends a native armadillo, Digger Diller. He tells Bluebonnet about the Battle of the Alamo, then reveals his family secret—they possess the coveted knife of soldier Jim Bowie. Convincing Digger that the knife belongs in the museum for everyone to enjoy, Bluebonnet and her new friend attempt to transport the knife inside, leading to feverish digging and a wild chase.
In Bluebonnet at the State Fair of Texas, Bluebonnet visits the state fair for the first time. Things get exciting when she must search through the fair, looking for clues to help her find her Aunt Armadilly. Along the way, Bluebonnet is mistaken for a football during a Cotton Bowl game and makes friends with Joe Bob, a rabbit. Together they ride a roller coaster and are given directions by Big Tex, the largest Texan at the fair.
