Focusing mainly on the Burrises of Amite County, Mississippi, and the Florida Parishes of Louisiana, this examination offers a mother lode of information for genealogists researching the Burris line, which may include such family names variations as Burroughs, Burrows, Burrus, Burruss, Burress, and Burriss. Much more than a tale of who begat whom, this volume provides helpful insight into the nature of the family.
By their fellow men, the Burrises are usually highly regarded. They are considered reliable, trustworthy, and honest. They also are known for their fair play. One of the highest tributes the author ever heard paid their character came from a former district attorney, who remarked that, whenever he had a case to come before a jury and there were Burris men present, he always accepted them without a single question.
